Digital funding in Austria: the federal scheme and all nine provinces.
Funding for the digitalisation of small and medium-sized businesses in Austria sits on two levels: the nationwide KMU.DIGITAL 4.0 programme including its GREEN stream, which funds the consulting itself, and the business development schemes of the nine provinces, which mostly fund projects and investment. The federal budget is currently exhausted, while several provincial schemes still accept applications. This page brings both levels together, with a date and a source on every entry.
KMU.DIGITAL 4.0 & GREEN
Federal level: KMU.DIGITAL 4.0 & GREEN
The only nationwide programme that funds digitalisation consulting directly. It follows an annual rhythm: the budget is released early in the year and is typically exhausted as the year progresses. The status indicator above is refreshed monthly straight from kmudigital.at.

In English: the KMU.DIGITAL 4.0 budget is fully exhausted, so applications for consulting and implementation funding are no longer possible. The same notice appears on the KMU.DIGITAL & GREEN home page, where it covers all three modules. The GREEN stream is therefore not running separately, contrary to what some third-party sites claim.

The nine provinces
The provinces work differently. Vienna, Styria and Carinthia publish specific programmes with names and amounts. Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Tyrol and Vorarlberg work more through case-by-case funding advice. Both approaches are legitimate, they simply change the route to an application.
One caveat: I run no live budget indicator for the provincial schemes. These entries are a manually checked snapshot from 7 August 2026, taken directly from the funding bodies. Budgets can be exhausted at any time. The relevant body is always authoritative, which is why every entry links straight to it.
ViennaWirtschaftsagentur Wien
Runs a dedicated Förderung Digitalisierung stream for SMEs implementing digitalisation measures, worth up to €50,000 per project. Submission deadlines given are 30 September and 31 December 2026. A second scheme, Lebendiges Grätzl, supports ground-floor business premises with up to €20,000 and explicitly includes digitalisation measures.
Lower Austriaecoplus
The province's business agency. It publishes no open SME funding catalogue, working instead through case-by-case funding advice alongside regional development schemes. Here the route runs through a conversation rather than a programme list.
Upper AustriaBusiness Upper Austria
The provincial location agency, known as biz-up. Access again runs through funding advice and events rather than a central programme list, so a direct enquiry is the practical starting point.
SalzburgLand Salzburg
The province administers its business funding directly and lists a Digitalisierungsoffensive among its schemes, alongside coaching, research and development, and business formation or succession.
StyriaSFG
The densest set of programmes of any province. Cyber!Sicher funds IT security analyses, consulting, investment and training at up to 30 per cent and a maximum of €15,000. Ideen!Reich covers innovation projects from €14,000 (module XS) to €75,000 (module XL). Lebens!Nah funds the digitalisation of production, sales, marketing and internal processes at 30 per cent. Start!Klar addresses new businesses with up to €37,500.
TyrolStandortagentur Tirol
Bundles provincial, federal and EU programmes and maintains a list of current calls. The overview names no specific programmes or amounts, so the route runs through its funding advisory team.
VorarlbergWISTO
Wirtschafts-Standort Vorarlberg GmbH advises local businesses free of charge on research, development and innovation and accompanies them through the funding process. It maintains no dedicated digitalisation funding catalogue.
CarinthiaKWF
The Carinthian business development fund runs several relevant streams: Umsetzung.KI for AI projects, Umsetzung.F&E&I and Start.F&E&I for research, development and innovation, plus Strategie.IMPULS.
BurgenlandWirtschaftsagentur Burgenland
The central point of contact for business funding in the province. Its offering is organised into trade, tourism, innovation, financing, and energy and environmental measures.
